Mark Kosinski, MA - Vice President & Senior Scientist
Mark has worked closely with Dr. John E. Ware, Jr., over the past 17 years, providing analytic support for the
SF-36®, SF-12®, and SF-8™ Health Surveys. He has been involved in numerous studies on the measurement
of health outcomes, as well as the development and validation of the SF-12 and SF-36 Physical and Mental Health Summary
Scales, the SF-8, the Asthma Control Test™ (ACT™), and the Headache Impact Test™ (HIT-6™). In
recent years, Mark has focused most of his research on the development and analysis of item banks for computer adaptive
health assessments. He has co-authored over 120 peer-reviewed journal articles related to the development and analysis
of patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures of health status, and has contributed to 10 manuals and interpretation guides
for various PRO measures, including the SF-36, SF-12, and SF-8. Over the past 10 years, Mark has been actively involved
in working with the pharmaceutical industry in the analysis of clinical trial data with PRO measures as secondary
indicators of treatment efficacy. Mark Kosinski has a master's degree in Psychology from Bridgewater State University.
Michelle K. White, PhD - Director & Scientist
Michelle joined QualityMetric in August 2008. Prior to joining QualityMetric, Michelle spent eight years as a Research Scientist and Assistant Director of a business unit overseeing
the implementation of the GAIN bio-psychosocial assessment. This included helping 14 state substance abuse treatment, child welfare, mental health, and justice system programs implement
the tool statewide and dozens of Center for Substance Abuse Treatment grantees. Her research interests include improving implementation of evidence-based practices across systems of care,
behavioral health treatment outcomes research, and reducing health disparities and improving quality of life. Michelle spent many years working at residential treatment and detention centers,
has been a licensed foster care provider, and has worked in various clinical settings. She received her doctorate in Sociology from the University of Illinois (UI), focusing on population,
health, and life course studies, and has since taught at UI and Illinois State University.
Margaret Codianni - Research Assistant, Consulting Services
Margaret joined QualityMetric in 2004 bringing more than ten years of combined research, administrative, and accounting experience. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from
Suffolk University. As a member of the Outcomes Insight Consulting team, she continues to deliver research support through extensive literature searches, conference posters,
presentation slides, as well as on-site and web-based trainings.
Kavita Gajria, B.S.Pharm, MS - Associate Scientist, Outcomes Insight™ Consulting
Kavita Gajria joined QualityMetric Inc. in 2005. She is a pharmacist with a Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University. Kavita's area of research expertise includes health economics,
outcomes research, and pharmaceutical marketing. At QualityMetric, she has worked on numerous consulting projects for pharmaceutical and biotech companies and managed care organizations. Some of the projects that she has worked on
include - development of patient reported outcomes tools; pharmacoeconomic studies evaluating cost- effectiveness of status quo disease treatments, and clinical studies evaluating disease burden on health related quality of life,
health care use and expenditures; and assessment of therapeutics and wellness programs in improving health related quality of life outcomes. Kavita has also presented her research at international conferences such as ISPOR and published
her research in peer-reviewed journals. Her previous research experience has been in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry and in health economics and outcomes research in academia.
Jennifer T. Hanlon, MPH - Project Director, Outcomes Insight™ Consulting
Jennifer joined QualityMetric in January 2006. She brings to the team experience in developing and evaluating the measurement qualities of patient-reported outcomes measures. She has been working in many disease areas,
such as gastrointestinal conditions, respiratory diseases, HIV, migraine. Prior to joining QM Jennifer designed and managed outcomes research studies including treatment satisfaction, patient preference, health related
quality of life and symptom evaluation. Jennifer earned a Masters in Public Health and completed a two-year fellowship in Pharmaco-economics and Outcomes Research at University of Michigan.
Min Yang, MD, PhD - Senior Scientist, Outcomes Insight™ Consulting
Min joined QualityMetric in February 2006. Her research interests span the areas of health-related quality of life, health services utilization, pharmacoepidemiology, research methodological designs, quantitative methods,
medication adherence/compliance. Her research covers many disease areas including cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, women's health, and mental health. Her research and analysis
experiences include using clinical trials data, survey data and claims databases to do treatment effect analysis, health outcomes analysis (e.g., side effects evaluation), patient reported outcomes analysis
(e.g., burden analysis, minimally important difference of PRO instruments), as well as involving in qualitative research, and survey instrument development and validation. She has twice received awards for her research
presentations at the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). She received both of MS and PhD in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin. Min holds a MD from the Suzhou Medical College,
China, and is trained in surgical oncology.
Geoffrey Hammond joined QualityMetric in 2007. Geoff recently completed his PhD in Psychiatric Epidemiology at the University of Cambridge in the UK, where his PhD focused on latent variable methodologies and their use in assessing
heterogeneity in schizophrenia outcome. Part of his thesis work focused on longitudinal modeling of EQ-5D utility scores along with assessment of movement between EQ-5D dimensional states using Markov Transition modeling. During this
time, Geoff was also a part-time assistant lecturer at Anglia-Rushkin University. Before his move to the UK, Geoff worked as a research assistant at the Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where his research experience focused
on patients with autonomic neuropathy and fibromyalgia. Geoff has presented numerous times at ISPOR, being awarded the best student podium presentation in 2005. His research at QualityMetric has focused on questionnaire development and application
latent variable models to both longitudinal and cross-sectional data.
Regina Rendas-Baum - Senior Outcomes Analyst, Outcomes Insight™ Consulting
Regina joined the Outcomes Insight™ Consulting Division as a Senior Outcomes Analyst in August 2007. Prior to joining QM, Regina was a research assistant and PhD student in Biostatistics at Brown University, where she
investigated the use of nonlinear mixed models to study cancer diagnostic accuracy. Regina also worked as a statistician at the Center for Statistical Sciences at Brown University, participating in the planning, data collection
and analysis for several multi-site studies aimed at investigating alternative cancer diagnostic imaging methods. She also served as consulting statistician at the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Medicine
and Dentistry of New Jersey. Regina holds a BA and MS in Statistics from the University of Connecticut.
ActiveHealth Management (ActiveHealth) is working with QualityMetric to include the SF-12v2 Health
Survey in the ActivePHRSM personal health record as part of a pilot program.
